Does that sound familiar? In dreams, anything is possible. You can change locations in a fraction of a second and move around however you like. You can even fly.
Let’s use this power of visualisation to shape your life according to your own vision. It’s important that, as a first step, we put a great deal of energy into visualising it, so that putting it into practice is then easier.
Step 1: Visualising the new
Here are two key questions to get you started:
- What does your ideal life look like?
- How would you like to feel every day?
If you like, stop reading after this paragraph and close your eyes. Start dreaming about these two questions. Feel them with all your senses, with your whole body. The more detailed and vivid your dream is, and the more intense the feelings associated with it, the easier it will be for your body to support you in realising this vision of your life.
Once you’ve opened your eyes again, feel free to write down your dream. What does your ideal life look like? Or perhaps you’re a creative person and would prefer to put your vision of your ideal life down on paper in the form of a collage, a mood board or a drawing. Put all your passion and creativity into this part of the process. The more focus you put into this task, and the more dedication and presence you bring to the visualisation, the more easily your vision will take shape.
Step 2: Making your dream a reality
Now we come to the second step: making your dream a reality.
Go about your daily life mindfully and consciously, and notice the areas where your current life does not yet match your dreams. Where does reality still differ from the life you’d like to lead?
- What exactly would you like to change?
- Where exactly would you like to live?
- What does your ideal home look like?
- What would be your dream job – the role that really sets your heart racing?
- What sort of people would you like to spend time with?
- Which partner should walk alongside you on your journey through life?
- Which hobby has been on your „I really ought to…“ list for so long?
- What are your favourite places on your bucket list?
- How much money would you like to have at your disposal each month? How would you like to spend it?
- Which languages would you like to speak?
- …
Write everything down! But write from the heart and feel. Feel how your body reacts to what you’re writing. Does it feel expansive and warm? Which parts of your body – the ones that are usually so tense – are relaxing? What can you smell? What can you taste?
Step 3: Make the most of your resources
The third step towards achieving your ideal life concerns the people who can help you turn your dream into reality. Think about it:
- Who needs to know about your dream?
- Who should know what you’d like to change?
- Who else might have similar ideas, and could you work together to put them into practice?
Don’t be shy and keep your dreams to yourself. Instead, talk about them with the enthusiasm that comes from your heart. Because that’s how you’ll manage to spark that same enthusiasm in others.
Step 4: Magic and your Creativityt
Step 4 is a magical step. It works if you’re prepared to embrace magic and believe in your own creative power.
Go through life mindfully and learn to interpret the signs that life sends your way. Perhaps someone mentions in passing that the neighbour is moving out. Perhaps a friend complains to you that a colleague has handed in her notice. Or perhaps a passer-by in the pedestrian zone speaks to you in a language you’d like to learn. Collect these messages, try to decipher them, and take action when you feel that gut instinct telling you to do so.
From my own experience, I know that the signs life gives us to help us realise our dreams are as colourful as life itself. But the more open you are to them, the easier it is to decipher them, and the quicker new things start to flow.
I invite you to live out your dreams and take the first step in that direction through powerful visualisation. If you feel the desire to have someone by your side to help you decipher the magical signs, then let me accompany you for a while on your journey through life.
